Sometimes the only symptom of these disorders are crepitation without any clinical symptoms or clicking sounds that last for many years; but mostly temporomandibular problems are characterized by pain and trismus.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"sixteen columns\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">TMJ diseases (Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome) are characterized by a wide range of symptoms from tinnitus, headache, clicking and crepitation to trismus and jaw locking. As a consequence, patients seek treatment in multiple irrelevant branches such as ENT, neurology, maxillofacial surgery and physiotherapy. However, multidisciplinary approaches may be insufficient without an occlusion and vertical dimension assessment by a prosthodontist and an orthodontist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">TMJ is the only joint type that is able to make a rotation and protrusion at the same time.&nbsp; Patients with TMJ Dysfunction Syndrome mainly have pain in the joint area as well as clicking and crepitation sounds in the joint, sensitivity in the muscles and headache and jawbone movement limitations.
